Last Wednesday, 14 October, Sigourney Cantelo brought the Beauticate Collective together for its very first lunch at Lua, Luke Nguyen's restaurant at Sydney Fish Market. I was so happy that Estetika could be part of the day, with one of our makeup bags gifted to every guest at the table.

A long lunch to celebrate Beauticate

The lunch celebrated the Beauticate relaunch after twelve years, and the opening of the Beauticate Shop. Sigourney describes the Collective as "the group of experts, writers and founders whose voices shape so much of what we publish". Many of them had read each other's pieces but had never sat at the same table.

Around the table were Kate Waterhouse, Jocelyn Petroni, Dr Leanne Girgis, Shentel Lee, Simone Aspinall, Kerrie Gentle, Kristin Rawson, Brooke Stevenson and Michelle Bridges, joined by Elle Halliwell and Dr Nel Wijetunga.

What was inside the bags

In Sigourney's words: "Wanda from Estetika donated the beautiful makeup bags. Inside them were treats from Basics By B, BOOIE Beauty, LAMAV's CC Cream and IMBIBE Collagen Lips."

Little mirrors had been set along the table, and as Sigourney wrote, "Within minutes the bags were open, lids were off and Shentel was lining up her Basics by B makeup brushes. It looked less like a lunch and more like the best kind of backstage."

Seeing that made me smile. It is the moment I picture when I design our bags: everything open, easy to see and within reach.
