Kylie Jones: Building Fifty and Fearless After 50
At 51, Kylie Jones had spent three decades building other people’s brands. Then she was retrenched. She applied for dozens of jobs and didn’t receive a single interview.
In the middle of that uncertainty, she opened Instagram and started writing.
There was no launch plan or polished introduction. For the first eight months, she didn’t even show her face. She shared the thoughts she needed to hear herself, and other women began responding. Those conversations grew into Fifty & Fearless, a global community for women navigating life after 50.
When experience no longer opens the expected doors
Kylie’s career had been in marketing and brand building. She knew how to connect with people. But after losing her job, she found herself asking where she belonged next.
That part of her story matters to me. Women can arrive at midlife with decades of skill, perspective and resilience, yet still feel overlooked when they want to make a change. Kylie took the experience she already had and used it to create a space where other women could be heard.
Fifty & Fearless began with one account and honest posts. It has since grown into a community of more than a million women.
Why Kylie is part of The Reinvention Series
I started Estetika at 50, with no experience in manufacturing or ecommerce. I know how it feels to begin something new while wondering whether you’re ready.
That’s why I wanted to share Kylie’s story in Episode 7 of The Reinvention Series. Her path wasn’t straightforward, and she didn’t have to feel fearless before she began. She started where she was and found that many women were ready for the same conversation.
If you’re considering a change of your own, I hope her story reminds you that the experience you’ve built still belongs to you. You can use it in ways you haven’t imagined yet.
