At 72, Judith Fordham Is Far From Finished

At 72, Judith is not looking back. She is planning what comes next.

A career built by saying yes to opportunity

Judith has built a remarkable career across law and forensic science. Whenever an opportunity appeared, she took it.

Her guiding belief has been simple: become the best person you can be and leave the world a little better than you found it.

That belief has taken her through different careers, further study, writing and research. It has also taught her that reinvention does not always arrive as one dramatic turning point. Sometimes it happens each time we choose not to stand still.

Judith believes she still has plenty to contribute and that it would be a waste not to share the wisdom she has worked hard to earn.

The next chapter is already taking shape

Judith's plans would be ambitious at any age.

She wants to return to Raja Ampat and scuba dive again. She is working towards completing her PhD and making her jury research publicly available. She would like to write another book and is even considering becoming a mature-age model.

There is no sense that her most interesting years are behind her. Judith is still curious, still learning and still willing to put herself forward.

That may be the most powerful part of her story.

There is always another chapter to write

I started the Reinvention Series because, at 54, I am also reinventing part of my own life.

I wanted to hear from women ahead of me. Women in their 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond who are still creating, learning, travelling and asking themselves what might come next.

Judith reminded me that reinvention does not belong to a particular age. We do not reach a point where we have to stop wanting more from our lives or expecting more from ourselves.

We can honour everything we have already lived through while still looking forward.

And Judith is far from finished.
